Mrs Moon’s Plump Super Chunky yarn is unbelievably soft and luxurious. Made from the highest quality, sustainable, superfine merino, and baby alpaca fibers, it is a joy to work with and wear. With 70m on a 100g skein, it goes a lot further than many super chunky yarns.
The yarn is roving in nature, meaning that it is single-ply with a little twist, which helps keep the squidginess of the fibers, but during the spinning process, the fibers are slightly felted together to ensure that it doesn’t split when you are working with it.

Ethical Provenance of Mrs Moon Yarns: The tops are from non-mulesed Merino sheep from ethical farms. All the wool is shorn and not a bi-product of the animal skin industry as the sheep are kept for wool production alone. The alpaca is also shorn, the animals being kept for fiber production only.
Washing
Plump Super chunky and Plump DK are made from the highest quality superfine merino and baby alpaca. These really are special and luxurious fibers and should be treated carefully! Having said that, both yarns are suitable for delicate hand washing. Use a specialist detergent and do not agitate or twist the fibers to retain your garment’s gorgeous softness and shape.
Shedding
Because of the roving nature of these yarns (they are single ply, rather than tightly twisted), some shedding may occur. The best way to deal with this is to spray your finished garment with water and leave it to dry flat, naturally before the first wearing. This sets the fibers and should stop any problems.
