    Grainline Studio's Augusta Shirt or Dress is a cocoon shaped dress or shirt with an asymmetrical collar and mitered split hem. Choose from a short cuffed sleeve or a long straight sleeve; both are interchangeable with the dress or shirt. Techniques involved include sewing a straight seam, darts, setting sleeves, sewing an inset placket collar, mitered corners and hemming.   • Gyo Pattern | Merchant & Mills

    The Japanese inspired lines of the Gyo make a neat and decisive statement. Wear as an evening dress or as cool and beautiful summer wear. Skill level; Advanced Beginner Suitable for light to medium weight woven cloth such as linen, double gauze or cotton poplin. Using a crispy tightly woven cloth will make a boxy sculptural top, whereas linen will give you something much softer and flowing. Don’t use anything too thick as the skinny strap needs to be turned through. The top takes little fabric so it’s a great excuse to use something special. This is a multi-size paper pattern.

    The Hudson pant is the piece of clothing that you will wear all of the time. It's comfortable enough to wear around the house but can easily be dressed up to go run errands. The urban fit of these pants leaves a bit of extra room around the hips and then tapers into a skinny leg. View A is a full-length pant, and View B is midcalf. Suggested Fabrics: Medium weight knits such as cotton lycra, french terry, ponte, and sweatshirt knit with a suggested stretch of approximately 40%. Notions: Coordinating thread, 2 inch wide elastic (1 1/2 yds), 1/4” wide cording (2 yds), 2 x 1 inch scrap of fusible interfacing, ballpoint sewing needle. Difficulty:  Advanced Beginner

Both views have contrasting ribbing around the crew neckline and short sleeves for a slightly vintage look. Suggested Main Fabrics: Light to medium weight knit fabrics with 40% or more stretch such as cotton interlock, T-shirt jersey, and merino wool jersey.
