Are you looking for ways to keep your child engaged with activities that will challenge them over the summer months? Sewing with friends in Fabricate’s lovely downtown studio is a perfect solution.
Sewing requires concentration and focus, problem-solving skills, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills. In Fabricate summer sewing camps, your child will learn a practical skill they can use throughout their life while gaining confidence and making new friends. Studies have found that sewing a simple project, such as following pattern instructions, fabric selection, color coordination, sizing and fitting, all help stimulate creative thinking, promoting self-esteem and perseverance. In addition, completing a project from start to finish gives children a sense of accomplishment.
Sew and Swim Summer Camp is a very exciting week which will include projects such as a beach kaftan, drawstring pool bag, stylish shorts, waterproof zippered pouch for wet swimsuits, terry-cloth lined totes, and more. The week will culminate in a jaunt to nearby Spruce Pool where we’ll picnic and sport our new summery creations! Our experienced instructors will guide campers through a fun-filled week where campers will learn practical skills such as how to thread a sewing machine and wind a bobbin, sew a hem, read, cut and sew from a commercial sewing pattern, use interfacing, install a zipper and more. Campers will build on fundamentals as they gain confidence and hone skills.
