July 1 @ 9:00 am - July 3 @ 1:30 am MDT$350
In this three-day quilting workshop, students will complete a quilt from start to finish. Our young quilters, ages 9 and up, will learn all of the basics of this time-honored tradition by observing demonstrations with step by step instructions and practicing techniques every step of the way.
Students will begin by choosing the fabric for their quilt with guidance on color and scale. After a thorough introduction and review of sewing machine safety, we’ll begin preparing our fabric, discussing ironing do’s and don’ts in the pressing process. We’ll then learn to use an accurate seam allowance, strip piecing/chain piecing, layering, basting, machine quilting, and ultimately binding.
Students will receive 13.5 hours of instruction in this quilting intensive by Anna Rodriguez who has over ten years of experience teaching teens to sew and quilt.
