Handmade Modern Rag Doll Class
February 2, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 1:00pm, repeating until February 3, 2019
Join us for a two-day adventure* in doll-making in this Hand-made Modern Rag Doll class. Guest instructor, Jen Mabbett of Let’s Go For A Ride Handmade, will guide students through the entire doll-making process. Students will get to explore with an extensive assortment of natural fibers including wool, fleece, yarn, and cotton. We’ll demonstrate finger knitting, embroidery, and other techniques that students will learn to incorporate into their dolls.
Students will begin by searching within themselves as part of the design process and will begin to get a sense of what speaks to them and brings forth meaning in creating a doll that personifies love and uniqueness. Students will leave class with one completed doll plus accessories, such as skirts, dresses, scarves, purses, leggings, etc. and the courage, skill, and know-how to continue on in their creative adventures.
All materials, as well as healthy, nourishing snacks, will be provided and are included in the price of the class. Students are encouraged to bring meaningful fabric or trims to add to their dolls. Full use of Fabricate’s sewing machines, tools, and all items one could dream of to include in the making of one of a kind doll. Dolls can be made to keep or give as a special gift.
* Day two of the series will be Sunday, February 3rd, from 1-5pm.
Guest Instructor: Jen Mabbett, local artist, of Let’s Go For a Ride Handmade fame. “Love her but leave her wild; she is not just a rag doll nor are you just a girl.”
